Open 7 Days a Week 9am - 11pm
Document Preparation -- The fee we charge to prepare your documents is between $175 - $200; the final amount depends on whether you are filing alone or with your spouse.
Credit Report and Costs -- We have access to a service to provide us with a 3-source bankruptcy-specific credit report and we are charged between $50 - $75 for this service. We also charge a small fee -- usually $25 -- to cover our out-of-pocket costs and expenses. Our total fee for document preparation, credit report and costs, ranges between $250 and $300. And like the Bankruptcy Court, our fee can be paid in 2 or 3 installments, if needed.
Court Filing Fee -- The filing fee for a Chapter 7 is $306. The Bankruptcy Court will waive this fee if your income is low enough -- and most of our clients qualify to have the filing fee waived. If you want to find out if you qualify to have the filing fee waived, give us a call or send us an email. If you do not qualify to have the filing fee waived, the Bankruptcy Court will allow you to pay the filing fee in 4 installments, with the first payment due about 3 weeks after your Bankruptcy Petition is filed.
The filing fee for Chapter 13 is $281, but this fee cannot be waived. The Bankruptcy Court will allow you to pay the filing fee in 4 installments, with the first payment due about 3 weeks after your Bankruptcy Petition is filed.
Credit Counseling -- The cost of the 2 courses everyone is required to take range from $5 - $50 for each course. We will provide you with a list of several companies that offer the courses or you may browse the internet for a company that offers the courses.
en email I recently received --
I had spoken with you about a year ago about my husband and I filing for bankruptcy through you, but after looking deeper into our debts, we thought we could handle it without having to file. After further deliberation, we've decided that filing is indeed the best course of action for us, and would be very grateful if you would help us out once again. I still have the questionnaire and counseling information you emailed me before, and am in the process of filling out the paperwork. I know we should have listened to you before when you told us that it was a bad decision to go it alone. So here we are a year later, and in no better shape than we were in before. You were so right. Please consider helping us again...Ciara
